Do you remember?
The Oral History Project is ongoing. Former and current residents of Nechells are being contacted and invited to contribute to the collection by recording their experiences.
We are very keen to hear from anyone who would care to talk to us and part with some of their experiences of living in Nechells. Whether you were born and brought up in Nechells or came to this area from abroad or another part of the United Kingdom, we want to hear from you. Please go to ‘How to Contact Us.’
All recordings and access to them are strictly controlled under the Oral History Society's ethical guidelines. This means that no recordings can be used without the informed consent of the person(s) concerned. In return, we undertake to prevent abuse and unauthorised copying of interview material and provide suitable facilities for proper use.
In future, the archive will be made available to teachers and their pupils to enable them to explore their local community. Recorded material may also be accessed and used by those engaged in community and residential work with older people in order to assist in to encouraging a sense of worth and continued contribution to society.
A comprehensive electronic catalogue of oral history recordings in the collection is being constructed and will appear eventually on this website. The catalogue will also be printed in loose-leaf hard copy for use by visitors to the Project’s office.
